In the 1910 Census, Elbert and his children are shown with grandson Samuel S. DeVault. It is thought that Samuel was the son of Elbert's daughter, Leota Eleanor DeVault. Later Samuel shows up in census records with Leota and her husband, Clarence Ebert Oakley. Samuel is identified in all later records as Schreiber Lucian Oakley.
In the 1920 Census, Elbert is listed as Edward DeVault. His age is off and his parents are listed as being born in Ohio. Even so, I think this is our Elbert as his occupation is listed as house painter.
