[The following letter contains a number of statements that we, today, would consider factual errors. So far, all the Franklin Broyles letters that I have seen have been typed. My transcription below is from a typed copy that itself appears to be a transcription of Franklin's original letter. Since I appear to be transcribing a transcription, I have corrected most spelling errors and a few obvious typographical errors but have not corrected any genealogical information, and most punctuation errors. On pages two and seven there are some handwritten additions. I have included these additions within brackets. The page numbers I show within parentheses are on my copy of the letter but I doubt that they were on Franklin's original letter. I should note that Franklin has used the "DeVault" surname spelling even though many of people he is writing about used other variations of the surname spelling throughout their lives.]

Charles Elbert DeVault married Catherine (Spradley) Watson about 1943 when Catherine's twins, Barbara & Winifred, were about 3 years old. In the 1945 Florida State census, the twins are listed with the DeVault surname. There is a Texas birth certificate for the twins with the surname of DeVault. However, if Charles did adopt the girls the certificate would have been changed from Watson to DeVault.

Services for Ora Mae Arnold, 98, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Garry W. Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery.
Born Feb. 25, 1900, at Collinsville, Texas, to the late James and Melinda "Janie" Medlock Scantlin, she died Aug. 9, 1998, in Ardmore.
Crossing the Red River in a covered wagon as a little girl, she lived with the family near Brock until her marriage to James Edgar Arnold on Sept. 21, 1919, at Newport, Okla. They lived north of Lone Grove, Okla., until his death in 1961, at which time she moved to Ardmore to live closer to her only daughter.
Loved by all that knew her, she enjoyed her ability to remain virtually independent and self-sufficient until very late in life. Friends and neighbors could always find her busy building a "shed," working in her garden or repairing a fence even when she was well in her 60s. Poor health eventually forced her to move to an Ardmore health care facility, where she lived the last several years. She was a charter member of Blue Ribbon Baptist Church.
Although she will be missed by her family who remain, they know that she is enjoying a long-awaited family reunion with those who have preceded her, especially her "dear, sweet Momma" that she always spoke of with great fondness.
She is survived by her daughter, Aline Evelyn Harrell, Ardmore; two grandsons, Larry J. Harrell and his wife, Dea, and Garry W. Harrell and his wife, Olga, all of Ardmore; 10 great-grandchildren, Christine Cripps, Melissa Bonner, Christopher Harrell, Mimi Harrell, James Harrell, Isaiah Harrell, Patience Harrell, Victoria Harrell, Angelica Harrell and Josiah Harrell; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Jacob Bonner, Jeremy Bonner, Jerrid Bonner, Cody Harrell, Logan Harrell, Mackenzie Cripps and Tarah Harrell. Six brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be Larry Harrell, Christopher Harrell, James Harrell, Jim Bonner, Jacob Bonner and Marshell Scantlin.
