BLOUNTVILLE -- Ocia Jane Chambliss, 74, of 677 Spurgeon Lane, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a daughter of the late Ruffus and Maoma Cross Puckett. She was a homemaker and member of Good Fellowship Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Freddie Kitzmiller of Laurens, S.C., John Larry Kitzmiller of Blountville; two daughters, Mrs. Larry K. (Judy) Weaver and Mrs. Jack K. (Louise) Wright, both of Blountville; four sisters, Marie Simpson of Piney Flats, Lucy B. Brooks of Bristol, Juanita Edwards of Indian Springs and Frances Rush of Ohio; three brothers, Owen Puckett of Ohio, W.F.Puckett of Kingsport and Tom Puckett of Blountville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Orville Rogers and the Rev. Ernest Steffey will officiate.
Music will be by The Leb Thornburg Quartet. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Chambliss was also preceded in death by a son, Donnie Kitzmiller.
Pallbearers will be friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in East Lawn Funeral Home and other times at the residence or at the residence of John Kitzmiller, 230 Highway 75, in Blountville.
East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Donnie Enos Kitzmiller, two-and-one-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs John Henry Kitzmiller of Fordtown, Route Two, at the Beulah Church in that community Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The infant died at the home of his parents Monday at 2:45 a.m. Survivors include his parents, a brother, James Freddie; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Enos Kitzmiller, of Route One, Kingsport, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mae Puckett of Route One, Kingsport.

Mrs. W.B. Gibbs, 83, who died yesterday at her home on East Sixth Street, was one of Pulaski’s oldest and best known citizens, and loved for her generous nature. She was born August 7, 1856 at Broad Ford, Rich Valley, Smyth County. Her maiden name was Ella Raider and she was the only child of Sarah Ann Urps and Joseph Raider. Her maternal grandparents were Rebecca Bishop Urps and Turner Urps, and great grandparents, Alexander Bishop and Ruth St. John Bishop, the Bishop and St. John families being prominent in the early history of Eastern Virginia.
Her first marriage was to Turman Bullard Meredith, who died in 1892. To this union, Georgia Sprinkle Meredith, who death occurred in 1918, and Merle M. Meredith of Columbus Ohio. In 1898, she married William B. Gibbs, who survives her, no children having been to this union.
For many years Mrs. Gibbs was a faithful member of the Christian church but in recent years joined the Presbyterian Church and attended services at Anderson Chapel when her health permitted.
Other survivors besides her husband and son include a half sister, Mrs. J.H. Barbary of Independence and a half brother Joseph Swartz of Roxboro, N.C.; the following grandchildren, Mrs. Temple Painter, Pulaski; J. Glenn Daughtery, Roseville, Mich.; Milton DeVault, Mrs. H.H. Duncan, Kingsport; Charlton DeVault, Appalachia, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral serviced will be conducted at the Presbyterian Church tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock with Dr. W.W. Arrowood in charge. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Pallbearers include Hensel Eckman, Clay Carlton, R.W. Stambaugh, W.D. Macgill, W.M. Farmer, J.C. Harman, W.M. Board, and F.J. Bell.
