JOHN PRICE POWELL DIES IN HOSPITAL
John Price Powell, Jr., son of the late John Price Powell and Nellie Fullington Craig Powell was born February 22, 1897, at New Florence, Missouri and passed away June 29, 1951, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis.
He spent his early years in New Florence and served his country during the first World War. After returning from service he attended Chillicothe Business College. He then served as manager of Kroger stores until he went into business for himself in St. Louis.
He was married to Miss Myrtle Beckman of Jefferson City, who survives him.
He also leaves to mourn his passing three sisters and brother: Blanche Scholten of St. Louis, Elsie Saak of Montgomery City, Harry and Edna Powell of New Florence, and many other relations and friends.
A brother, Earl Powell and a sister Nellie Sanker, preceded him in death. He attended the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches throughout his life.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. No. 246, Montgomery City, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted on July 2nd at the New Florence Methodist Church by Brother Harold Nebel and Masonic services were held at the New Florence Cemetery where interment was made.
