Mr. Richard Hardin Deakins, 63 Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of Doris Hardin Deakins and the late A.A. Deakins Jr. Mr. Deakins served in the US Army in Korea on the DMZ in the 70’s. He retired from the Federal Gov. as a tobacco inspector after 30 years of service. Richard was an avid carnival glass collector for many years. He also enjoyed shooting in pool tournaments and spending time with his tournament friends. Richard was also an avid fisherman. In addition to Mr. Deakins Mother he is also survived by his wife Linda Russell Deakins; Two sisters Sandra Arcidiacono and Judy D. Jones; Two brothers Argil “Bovie” and David S. Deakins; Step-son Curtis Cloyd; several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; Two special friends Doo-Dad and Poly the Parrot. Funeral services for Richard will held Tuesday Oct. 20, 2009, at the funeral home chapel at 8:00 pm Visitation will be from 5:00- 8:00 pm prior to service. Interment will be 11:00 am Wednesday Oct. 21, 2009, at Mountain Home Nation Cemetery. Pal-Bearers will be Curtis Cloyd, Danny Mac Keys, Billy Joe Russell, John Deakins Jr., Jerry Deakins and Richard Britton. Honorary Pal-Bearers will be Danny Wheelock, Johnny Hensley, Russell Payne, J.L. Baines and Henry Walker. Condolences may be sent to family to dillow-taylor@embarqmail.com.
