He was a member of Panther Springs United Methodist Church and a WWII veteran. While in service he received the American Defense Ribbon; American Theater Ribbon; EAME Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Stars and Good Conduct Medal. He was retired from the State of Tennessee where he worked as an Animal Health Inspector. He also loved to farm. He is preceded in death by his wife, Susie "Irene" Breeding Masengill; parents, Royston Hicks and Ann Bell Masengill; brothers, Roy Masengill, Ralph Masengill and Bill Masengill; nephew, Butch Masengill; niece, Priscilla Parker. He is survived by his two children, Douglas Masengill, Jr. of Morristown and Susie Ann NeSmith of Morristown; granddaughter, Lynsey NeSmith of Morristown and sister, Virginia Ann Shaddon of Knoxville; nephews, Hicks Masengill, Mike Masengill, Chris Masengill, Ralph Masengill, Jr., Wayne Masengill, Mark Oliver and Rogan Oliver; niece, Dene Masengill. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Hensley and Rev. Garland James officiating. Family and friends will meet Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at 1:45 p.m. at Hamblen Memory Gardens for a 2 p.m. military graveside service.

MASENGILL, JR., ROYSTON HICKS, age 89, of Morristown, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for 49 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Royston Hicks Masengill, Sr. and Ann Virginia Masengill; brothers, Bill and Ralph Masengill; son, James Royston "Butch" Masengill. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen (McDonald) Masengill; children and their spouses, Hix and Clyda Masengill of Morristown, Mike and Denise Masengill of Morristown and Chris and Kim Masengill of Dickson; grandchildren, Elaine and Marlo Masengill, Christa Williams, Misty Vaughn, Van, Brian, Andrew, Philip and Matthew Masengill; great-grandchildren, Christa and Megan Vaughn and Grant Williams; brother, Doug Masengill; and sister, Virginia Sheddan. He was a World War II veteran and sailed on the Lake Champlaign Aircraft Carrier. He was a partner in Hasson Bryan Hardware. He was a 32nd degree Mason, York and Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Kerbela Shrine Temple, VFW, American Legion and a Past Exhalted Ruler of the BPOE #1667. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellen Fisher and Dr. Darris Doyal officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 in Jarnagin Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the church. MASENGILL, RALPH P.
MASENGILL, RALPH P., SR. - age 81, passed away Wednesday morning, June 7,m 2000 at approximately 8:40 a.m. at Heritage Center in Morristown. Mr. Masengill was the founder of Jefferson Federal Savings and Loan, Masengill McCrary Century 21 Real Estate Co., Masengill McCrary Greg Insurance, Masengill Auction Company, and The Tenn. Auctioneer's Commission in Nashville, where he was one of three original commissioners. He was a former President of the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce, Morristown Kiwanis Club, Tenn. Auctioneer's Association, National Auctioneer's Association, and the United Way of Hamblen County. He also served as President and Chairman of the Board of Jefferson Federal Savings and Loan as well as being one of the original trustees of Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System (Morristown-Hamblen Hospital) and one of three original trustees of the Country Club, Inc. in Morristown. In addition to serving as president of numerous other businesses and corporations throughout Tenn. Mr. Masengill was a member of First Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Mae Paxton Masengill; his mother and father, Hicks and Ann Masengill; and his brother, William Wayne Masengill. Survivors include: son and daughter in law, Ralph and Dianne Masengill of Morristown, Tenn.; daughter, Priscilla A. Parker of Ocean City, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Billy Parker of Ocean City, New Jersey, Marian Lewis of Knoxville, Tenn., Robert Paxton Masengill of Morristown, Tenn., Scott Parker from Ocean City, New Jersey, Libby Livingston of Atlanta, Ga., Beth Masengill of New York, New York; great grandchildren, Erin and Eli Lewis of Knoxville, Tenn., Paxton Masengill of Morristown, Tenn.; brothers and sister, Virginia Ann Sheddan of Knoxville, Tenn., Douglas Masengill of Morrristown, Tenn., Roy Masengill of Morristown, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews.
