Christine J. Hughlett, ascended to God's peace Thursday, June 23, 2011 at her residence. She was surrounded in love by her son and two special friends, Patsy Wyatt and Pat Hagey at her hour of passage.
She Born March 4, 1921 in Bristol, Tennessee, to the late Edwin E. Jobe and Ina M. Jobe.
Christine graduated from Sullins College and retired from the United State Government – Social Security Administration with many years of service. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was a wonderful mother, a kind and generous friend, loved reading, conversation with friends and animals - particularly cats.
Special appreciation is offered to Dr. John Mann, III, Karen Foster, RN and Stephanie Brewer, RN for their wonderful care, also an expression of love and appreciation is offered to The First Bank and Trust Company and Ms. Joni Morrell for their prayers, comfort and kindness.
Christine is survived by her loving son, Henry E. "Hank" Elliott of Bristol, TN and a step-daughter, Susan Cassell of Loudon, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bristol Humane Society, 6 6th St., Bristol, TN 37620 or to a charity of one's choice.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Stan Anderson officiating. Pallbearers will Gary Malcolm, Jim Gunter, Nolan Robinette, John Crewey, Rick Fields and Ron Hartsock. Honorary pallbearers will be William E. Scheuer, Sr. and James E. Ritter, II. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The visitation and celebration of her life, will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Monday at the funeral home.
