Surviving are his wife, Flora Mae, nee Whorton, Peterson, whom he married on April 30, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, William Dale (Sharon) Peterson of New Franklin, Mo., Jerry Wayne (Nancy) Peterson of Cahokia, Ill., and Gary Lee (Diane) Peterson of Cahokia, Ill.; three daughters, Hazel (Robert) Smith of Morton, Ill., Debra Peterson of Cahokia, Ill., and Sandra Suminski of Morton, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Patricia Peterson.
