Sharon S. Byerly died December 14 at Mason City, Illinois.
Born September 22, 1891 at Warrensberg, Mo., he was seven when his family moved by wagon train to Indian Territory, Okla.
At Coyle, Okla., he met and married Hazel Rohrer October 2, 1912. To them were born eight children: John Byerly Pueblo; Mrs. J. T. (Mary) Enos, Rocky Ford; Mrs C. C. (Esther) Markham, Fowler; Dr. Charles Byerly, Mason City, Illinois; Mrs. J. E. (Lida) Chapman, Salt Lake City Utah; Ben Byerly, Chestertown, Md.; Mrs. Jimmie McCormick (Ellen) Salida; and Mrs. Robert (Wanda) Negley, Buena Vista. He is also survived by a sister, Miss Marietta Byerly of Tishomingo, Okla., 30 grandchildren and seven great-grand-children.
The Byerlys moved to Colorado in 1943 and lived near Fowler until 1945 when they moved to a ranch near Westcliffe where they lived until ill health caused them to move to Illinois in October of this year.
Funeral services were held December 18 at Mason City, with all children being present.

MASON CITY -(PNS)- Samuel Byerly, 70, of R. R. 1 died at 5 p. m. Thursday.
His fumeral will be at 1 p. m. Monday at Conrad Funeral Home, with burial in Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He came to Mason City in October, 1961 from Colorado where he was a rancher.

Ernest M. Wolfe
Jones resident Ernest M. Wolfe died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 89.
Wolfe was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Coyle to Frank A. and Leola Nettie (Byerly) Wolfe.
He married Vera Couch in 1933.
He graduated from State Center School in 1933. He was an active member of the Choctaw Seventh Day Adventist Church and served on many community, church-related and school boards.
Survivors include his wife, Vera, of the home; daughters, Barbara Gepford, Harrah, Donna Krogstad, Newbury Park, Calif., Judy Krueger, McKenzie, N.D.; sisters, LaVonia Smith, Denver, Colo., LoVelle Young and Alta Mae Chase, both of Jones, Miriam Pound, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard; sister, Leonora; and grandson, Jon Krueger.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Summit Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church in Harrah, with Pastor Max Trevino officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in Jones.

Vera Couch Wolfe, of Jones, passed away on February 15, 2001, at the Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born September 19, 1910 in Choctaw, Oklahoma to Ira L. and Minnie (AIlen) Taylor Couch. Vera was the granddaughter of Captain W. L. Couch, Oklahoma City's first Territorial Mayor.
She began first grade in 1916, the year the State Center School opened, and graduated in 1928. She was the only charter student who attended State Center all 12 years. Following high school she completed the two-year business course at Draughans Business College in Oklahoma City. She married her high school sweetheart, Ernest Wolfe in 1933.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; six brothers, Charlie Couch, Rusty Couch, Bill Couch, John Couch, Albert Couch, and Oscar Taylor; and a grandson, Jon Krueger. She is survived by one sister, Lena Whitford, Harrah, Oklahoma; three daughters and sons in-law; Donna and Arnt Krogstad, Placerville, California; Barbara and Dode Gepford, Jones, Oklahoma; Judy and Jim Krueger, McKenzie, North Dakota; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Vera was an active member of the Choctaw Seventh Day Adventist church. Her life was devoted to community services having a deep concern for helping those in need. She volunteered in many major disasters throughout Oklahoma and the southwest. The last two in which she served were the bombing of the Murrah building and the May 3rd tornado of 1999.
A viewing with the family present will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on February 18 at the Asa Smith Funeral Home, Harrah. A memorial service will be held February 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summit Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church, Harrah. All are invited to join the family for a light lunch at the church immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Services of the Choctaw Seventh Day Adventist Church or the Wolfe Living Center at Summit Ridge, Harrah. Private interment.
