Francis Marion Reagan was born on 8 January 1842 in Macoupin Co., Illinois.1 He and Jane E. Tunnell were married on 7 October 1866 in Macoupin Co., Illinois.2 He and Mary Elizabeth "Elizabeth" Ritchie were married on 1 April 1871 in Macoupin Co., Illinois.2 He died on 3 January 1890, at age 47, in Fairlie, Hunt Co., Texas.1,6 He died on 3 January 1891, at age 48, in Fairlie, Hunt Co., Texas.7 He was buried in Sonora Cemetery, Hunt Co., Texas.1 Francis Marion Reagan had reference number 30206. Civil War, Confederate Army, 8th Missouri Infantry (Mitchell's), Private, August 7, 1862 - June 7, 1865.7 He was a Farm laborer (1860); carpenter (1870); school teacher (Rick Reagan.)1,4,5 He was enumerated on the census in Macoupin County, Illinois (1850 - 1870.) On August 7, 1862, Francis enlisted in the Confederate Army, Company D, 8th Missouri Infantry. His term of enlistment was three years or the duration of the war. He was a Junior 2nd lieutenant when his regiment surrender at New Orleans, Louisiana on May 26, 1865. He was a prisoner of war until paroled on June 7, 1865 at Alexandria, Louisiana.
Prior to his marriage to Elizabeth Ritchie, Francis was married to Jane E. Tunnell. (Some genealogies show her name as Jane E. Farwell.) Francis and Jane had two sons. The first, Charles, died when he was a year old. The second son was named Harmon. Jane died shortly after the birth of Harmon. By 1880, Francis, his second wife, Elizabeth Ritchie and family were living in Henderson County, Texas. I have not been able to locate this family in the 1880 census, however, Harmon was living with his uncle Richard Ragan and Richard's wife Margaret back in Macoupin County, Illinois. I suspect that Richard and Margaret raised Harmon. Harmon died before he was twenty years old.
