Alfred Martin Keefhaver, a prominent farmer of North Lebanon, passed away on Friday, February 12, after several months intense suffering.
He was one of a family of six children born to Mr. and Mrs John Keefhaver, pioneer settlers of Washington County, Tennessee. He was born May 24, 1854, and was at the time of his death 71 years, 8 months and 19 days of age.
When nine years old he moved with his parents to Missouri, where he attended the public schools, grew to maturity and in 1880 was united in marriage to Miss Letitia Powell, also a resident of Lawrence county, Missouri. The young couple moved to Kansas, where their three children were born.
During the land rush of 1889 Mr. Keefhaver and family moved to Oklahoma and secured a homestead, where they endured the privations incident to settling a new country. Their homestead later became valuable.
The family moved to Oregon in 1904 as he had been favorably impressed with the country when called here by the death of a sister three years earlier. He has lived in the Tennessee neighborhood for about twenty years, where he won the esteem of his neighbors by his sterling integrity.
He cut his knee with an ax about thirty years ago. The injured limb always gave him trouble and was a contributory cause of his last illness. Mr. Keefhaver was not a church member but he accepted baptism. Funeral services which were very largely attended, were conducted at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon by Rev. W. W. Davis. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.
Surviving relatives are three children: O. C. Keefhaver of Lebanon, Mrs. A. M. Stewart of Jefferson and Mrs. O. Severns of Portland; one brother, N. D. Keefhaver of Lebanon, two sisters, Mrs. Jno R. Morris and Mrs. J. C. Mitchell of Lebanon, and an uncle, Samuel Keefhaver of Lebanon.
Pall bearers were James and William Blacklaw, George Ross, A. I. Jobe, Raymond Barkhart and Jacob Fitzwater.

LEBANON MAN AND WIFE ARE BURRIED ON SAME DAY
----
LIFE MATES PASS ON TO GREAT BEYOND
----
FUNERAL LARGELY ATTENDED
----
Long and Useful Life Had Endeared Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Keefhaver To Many
----
One of the largest funerals held in Lebanon was the service held for Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Keefhaver at the Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at 1:30. A large number of friends and relatives were present and the flowers were most beautiful.
The occasion was one that is seldon seen, as husband and wife were buried together. As they had lived, so they passed on, side by side. Their faithful service to God and humanity made many dear friends for them and they will be much missed and not soon forgotten.
The funeral sermon was delivered by the local minister, Rev. O. P. Burris, while the music was furnished by a quartet with Mrs. Elmer Regester at the organ. The quartet was composed of Mrs. Glenn Tucker, Mrs. Amos Hauxwell, A. T. Owen and the minister O. P. Burris. Mrs. Tucker and Mrs. Regester also sang a duet.
The parting was sad but the future for the departed is bright with hope for their faith was founded upon the Rock, the sure foundation.
The pall bearers were W. L. Carter, L. Taylor, P. Gingher, Amos Hauxwell, Bert Cotton, C. Plank, A. T. Owen, A. A. Cox, Charles Miles, Bob Clem, William Curtis, A. Jobe, M. R. Loomis.
Interment was in the Masonic cemetery.
Samuel J. Keefhaver was born in Jonesborough, Tennessee, August 4, 1846. He passed away at Lebanon, Oregon, January 21, 1932, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 17 days.
At the age of ten he moved with his parents to Illinois. During the gold rush he came to California and came to Oregon in 1876. To this union there were no children. They resided on a farm near Sanderson's bridge for a number of years.
Twenty-six years ago they moved to Lebanon where they have since resided. The immediate relatives are two nieces, Mrs. J. R. Morris, Mrs. J. C. Mitchll, and one nephew, N. D., Keefhaver, all of Lebanon. A number of other relations live around Lebanon, Jefferson and Portland.
Theodosia Katheryn Keebler was born November 1, 1859, at Greenfield, Illinois. Died January 23, 1932, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 22 days. She was married to S. J. Keefhaver September 28, 1876. She also spent her married life near and in Lebanon as the foregoing record of her husband will show.
All who knew this husband and wife tell of the beautiful and fruitful life spent together in this community. It is sad yet wonderful that a life so well lived by them should end together, that each may not be left to live and mourn the other. Few times is this blessing granted to us and while we sorrow because of the loss to the community we cannot but rejoice for their sakes that God and humanity while they lived and labored together. May the work they have left be taken up by others consecrated by their devoted lives.
She leaves two sisters, Mrs. F. E. Parrish and Mrs. Frank Lutz. She also leaves three brothers, Albert, Ben and Tom Keebler. Besides there are a number of nieces and nephews who survivor her.
