GRAND HAVEN - Arthur D. Aney, 68, route 2, Nunica, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon in Municipal Hospital shortly after he was admitted as a patient. He had been employed by Lakey Foundry in Muskegon for about 25 years as supervisor of the core room and retired three years ago. He attended East Fruitport Reformed Church.
Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Marvin Smallegan of Ferrysburg, Mrs. Stanley Postema of Grand Haven, Mrs. Eugene Hancock of Wayne, Mrs. Robert Koster of Spring Lake and Mrs. Thomas Rasmussen of Fruitport; and two sons, Jack of Nunica and Kim at home; two sisters a brother and 24 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from Kammeraad Funeral Home with the Rev. John Nyitray of Kalamazoo, former Fruitport minister, officiating. Burial will be in Fruitport cemetery.

Mr. Leffring, husband of the late Clarice Hartley Leffring, died Monday, October 31, 2011. Born in Los Angeles, he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna Aney Leffring. He served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force and was a member of American Legion Post 17 and the VFW. He was the owner and operator of the Colony Inn in Camden. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church.

ELWOOD -- Funeral services for Herman Frederick Willkie, 69, former Elwood resident, a brother of the late Wendell L. Willkie, who died in the Alexian Brothers Hospial, Oshkosh, Wis., Monday, were conducted at St. Stephen's in the Field Episcopal Church Thursday afernoon.
The Rev. Rufus L. Simons, rector of the church, was in charge. Cremation followed in the crematory at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Home, Indianapolis. The ashes will be interred in Elwood City Cemetery, in the Willkie family lot.
In addition to his immediate family, relatives who attended the services included a brother, Lt. Gen. Robert T. Willkie, Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Willkie; a niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Berg, also of Louisville, two nephews and wives, Mrs. and Mrs. Phillip Willkie, Rushville and Mr. and Mrs. Edwarrd Willkie, Jr., LaGrange, Ill., and a sister-in-law, Edith Willkie, New York City, widow of the late Wendell Wilkie.
Also attending were: Herman B. Wells, president of Indiana University; William Armstrong, Bloomington, director of the Willkie Foundation; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Harmon, Bloomington.

St. Stephen's Episcopal church In Elwood, has added to the beauty of its surroundings by virtue of a recent memorial gift in memory of Herman Frederick Willkie, a member of the well-known Willkie family, who for many years resided in Elwood. The memorial gift has been made possible through the generosity of Mr. Willkie's widow, Mrs. Helen Willkie, whose home is in Indianapolis, but who at present is residing with her children in Madrid, Spain. Brother to 1940 Republican presidential candidate died December 28, 1959, after a severe and lengthy illness, and was buried in Elwood City cemetery.

Mrs. Betty Jean Aker, age 77, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004. She was born in Nunica, MI on September 16, 1926 to Arthur & Lois Gilbert Aney. Mrs. Aker had been employed as a Welder at Lakey Foundry, Brunswick & retired from Harbor Industries. In retirement she enjoyed being a teachers aide at Ferry School. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Fruitport & long time member of 4H when she was younger. Mrs. Aker loved bird watching & was a devoted mother & grandmother.
SURVIVORS: 4 sons, David Susan Aker of Muskegon, Mark Fiance, Gloria Aker of Spring Lake, Jack Aker of Muskegon & Bret Mari Aker of Berrien Springs, MI; 2 daughters, Linda Roger VanOpynen of Grand Haven & Marva John Rose of Spring Lake; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Barbara Gene Hancoce of Ann Arbor, Beverly Postema of Grand Haven, Beatrice Len Waldo of Spring Lake & Bonnie Tom Rasmussen of Fruitport. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David & Jack Aney.
SERVICE: Friday, July 16, 2004, 1:30 PM at First Congregational Church of Fruitport with Rev. Ronald DePung officiating. Interment at Lakeshore Cemetery.
VISITATION: Thursday, 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home in Fruitport. MEMORIAL: American Heart Association. Clock - Fruitport.
