BLUFF CITY -- Roy Akard Riley, 77, of Rt. 3, Bluff City, died at 4 a.m. today in Hoston Valley Community Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
He was the son of the late William W. amd Rebecca Akard Riley, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, a retired rural mail carrier after 32 years of service, a deacon of the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church, an active member of the Chinquapin Grove Ruritan Club and past Master of Zollencoffer Masonic Lodge No. 444. One son Ralph A. Riley, preceded him in death in 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ina Smith Riley; four daughters, Mrs. Dallas (Cleo) Thompson, Bristol, Tenn., Mrs. Ross (Evelyn) Priffitt, Johnson City, Mrs. A. L. (Mabel) King, Kingsport and Mrs. S. A. Lillian Fraley, Castlewood, Va.; one son, Herbert W. Riley, Bluff City; one brother, Carl B. Riley, Bluff City; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Roy Akard Riley of Rt. 3, Bluff City, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Fox Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Murray Jackson officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles Earl and Rev. Ronald Hicks. Burial will be in Morning View Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and at the residence at any time. Fox Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
