Elizabeth Overdeer had reference number 50230. For some reason Elizabeth does not appear in the 1850 Census. She does, however, appear in the U.S. Mortality Schedules and in the Burial Records for Saint Matthews Church next to entries for her mother and brother. All three died of typhoid fever. There is also a possibility that the Catherine that only appears in the 1850 Census and Elizabeth that does not appear in the 1850 Census are one and the same.
There is some ambiguity as to Elizabeth's birth date. Michael Gulden, in his tree on Ancestry.com, gives Elizabeth's birth date as 11 Mar 1842. This works out to be 17 years, 8 months and 20 days. (Michael says it is 17 years, 8 months and 25 days.) My copy of the Saint Matthews Lutheran Church Burial Records shows her age as being 17 years, 8 months and 2 days.

Born April 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Roque and Anna (Groft) Groft, and the husband of Nadine (Nutter) Groft. They were married 50 years.
Mr. Groft retired in 1988 from York International after 40 years employed.
Besides his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Belinda M. Orndorff, Bonneauville, and Cathrine M. Rowe, Shippensburg; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation Church, McSherrystown, with Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel as celebrant.
Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery.

Mrs. Viola M. (Smith) Groft), 77, Heidelberg Twp., Hanover R. 3, widow of Joseph F. Groft, died Friday at 3:34 p.m. in Hanover General Hospital, where she had been admitted a short time earlier.
Mrs. Groft was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, it's Altar and Rosary Society, National Council of Catholic Women and the Legion of Mary.
She was a daughter of the late Samuel and Laura (Eckenrode) Smith.
She raised a grandson, Francis D. Groft, Jr., Hanover R. 3. Surviving also are a son, Gervase D. Groft, South Mountain; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Bernadette DeHoff, Littlestown R. 1, and Mrs. Celestia Pittenturf, Hanover.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph's Church. The pastor, the Rev. Robert C. Gribbin, will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday evening at the funeral home. The Rosary
