STORY TOLD BY MARGARET ELIZABETH (DEVAULT) WOOLF TO HER GRANDSON, DAN MACDONALD

The story involves the considerable wealth of Addie's family in Missouri. When she and James Miller married in Texas, the Hickmans sent them an entire railroad boxcar load of furniture, a whole house of furniture. Included in that rail shipment was an old rocker, a love seat, and six dining room chairs. Dan's mother had them restored. Dan still has the rocker, the love seat, and one of the chairs in his house. These items were all that was left from the "boxcar furniture" as the DeVault's home in Bristol was destroyed by fire. Someone knocked out the bay window to the dining room and the furniture Dan has was passed out into the yard before the dining room was consumed by the flames.
