Mrs. Reaves was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a daughter of the late Alfred Jackson and Lillie Kitzmiller Bowman.
She was a retired teacher with the Washington County School System where she taught at Boones Creek Elementary School.
Mrs. Reaves was a member of the Washington County Teachers Association and a life member of the Washington County Parent Teacher Association.
She received bachelor's and master's degrees from East Tennessee State College.
Mrs. Reaves was a member of the Johnson City Civinettes, the Johnson City Seniors' Center and the Washington County chapter of AARP.
Mrs. Reaves was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class. She was a former Sunday school pianist.
Survivors include her husband, Ray C. Reaves; one son, Larry C. Reaves, Johnson City; one grandson, Allan Todd Reaves, Johnson City; one great-grandson, Noah King Reaves, Johnson City.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Reaves, 84, 800 Hillmoor Drive, Johnson City, who died Sunday April 11, 1999, will be conducted Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at 8 p.m. from the East Chapel of Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home with Dr. Ronald Murray and the Rev. R. Willard Warfield officiating. Graveside commital services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at 10 a.m. in Monte Vista Burial Park with Dr. Ronald Murray and the Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. Those planning to attend committal services are to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Johnson City Civitan Club and former Civinettes, the Fidelis Sunday School class and the Friday Night Fish Gang. For those who prefer, the family requests memorials be made to Hazel B. Reaves Memorial Fund, c/o Central Baptist Church, 300 N. Roan St., Johnson City, Tenn. 37601. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home and other times at the residence. Mrs. Reaves is survived by her husband, Ray C. Reaves, of the home; her son, Larry C. Reaves, Johnson City; her grandson, Allan Todd Reaves and his wife, Suzanne King Reaves, both of Johnson City; her great-grandson, Noah King Reaves. Denver Ray Kitzmiller, Sr. passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Born in Kingsport, he resided in Kingsport his entire life. Denver was a graduate of Holston Institute and worked for Eastman Chemical Company prior to his retirement. He attended Celebration Church in Blountville, Tennessee and loved spending time with his family and friends and was a sports enthusiast.
Denver was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Lizzie "Mammie" Doran Kitzmiller; brothers, Buck Kitzmiller, William Kitzmiller, R. C. Kitzmiller, Tommy Kitzmiller, Jimmie Kitzmiller, and Frank Kitzmiller; sisters, Betty Mae Starnes, Hazel Johnson and Shirley Sumpter.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Kitzmiller; sons, Denny Kitzmiller, Brent Kitzmiller and wife Ellan; grandchildren, Taylor Royston and husband Brent and Zak Kitzmiller; great-grandchildren, Riley and Harley and numerous nieces and nephews.
