PINEY FLATS - Denver Ray Johnson, 68, of 224 Deer Lick Road, died Monday, May 24, 1999, in Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born in Washington County, Va., a son of the late Clark Eugene and Mary Katherine Settle Johnson. He lived in Piney Flats for most of his life and was the widower of Pauline Geisler Johnson. He was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church in Johnson City and retired from 37 years of service with Klopman Mills of Johnson City. He was a U.S. Army MASH Unit veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kenny (Sharon) Hopkins of Bristol, Tennessee, and Mrs. Eddie (Janet) Milhorn of Piney Flats; two sons, Terry Ray Johnson of Bulls Gap, Tenn., and Jeffery Brian Johnson of Piney Flats; a sister, Irene Stills of Jonesborough, Tenn.; four brothers, Melvin E. Johnson of Grey, Tenn., and Charles Johnson, George Johnson and Lee Johnson, all of Boones Creek Community; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Snyder's Funeral Home Chapel in Grey. The Rev. L.D. Lane, of Liberty Hills Evangelical Methodist Church, will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in New Bethel Cemetery in Piney Flats. Pallbearers will be selected. Friends are invited to visit the family in the home of Jeff Johnson, 421 Haw Ridge Road in Piney Flats and the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Snyder's Funeral Home.
