Ronald Bishop of Redding passed away February 15th, at age 77. Born to Ken and Florine Bishop, he is survived by his wife, Geri, son and daughter, Ron and Vicki, brother, Gary, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ron graduated from Pepperdine University. Actively involved in the Redding Rodeo Association, he earned the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association "Standard of the West" award. For more than 60 years he owned/operated the Bishop & Mathews Christmas Tree business. He served as a real estate broker, was involved in the Weaverville Rotary, Shriners, Masons, Shasta County Sheriff's Posse, and various other organizations.
Ron's pastimes included hunting, golfing and fishing. For many years he competed in the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament. He will be missed by many people who enjoyed his fun-loving personality.
A service will be held Friday, February 20, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Lutheran Church, 2500 Shasta View Dr., Redding. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Redding Rodeo Association "Special Kids' Day" Fund, c/o Redding Rodeo Association, 715 Auditorium Drive, Redding, California 96001.
