WILLIAM LINCOLN SIVITS
WOODBURN, Ore. -- Memorial services for William Lincoln Sivits, 98, were April 9 at the Reorganized Church of Jusus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He died at a Woodburn nursing home.
He was born in Lincoln County on Feb. 8, 1891, to Casper and Mary M. Sivits. His mother died when he was 4-months-old. He was raised by his father and stepmother, Alice Hillman Sivits.
He married Olive Greeley, who preceeded him in death.
Mr. Sivits was employed at Best Laundry for several years during the 1920s and later the North Platte Fire Department in the 1930s and 1940s. He moved to Vale, Ore., where he met and married Alice Gates in August 1950. They lived in Boise, Idaho, and Albany Ore., before moving to Hubbard, Ore., in 1962. Mrs. Sivits died in 1981.
He held the office of Priest in the RLDS church and was active until the last years of his life when he moved to French Prairie Care Center in Woodburn.
Survivors include two half sisters, Carrie Turpen of North Platte and Ruth Greely of Salem, Ore.; a half brother, Lester Sivits of Maxwell; three stepchildren, Ray Gates of Warrenton, Ore., Lucia Ann Gilley of Vale, Ore., and Harriet Wiedemann of Wilsonville, Ore.; 39 grandchildren and 86 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his two wives, he was preceded in death by his children; a brother; two sisters; three half brothers; and a half sister.
