Survivors include on daughter, Mrs. C. L. (Fannie) Dickert, Jr., Kingsport; one son, James H. Herbert Echols, Kingsport; one sister, Sarah Lucinda Strickler, Kingsport; and one granddaughter.

Worker Treated For Head Burns
Hubert Echols, 34, of Fordtown RFD 2, was treated for burns at Holston Valley Community Hospital at noon today for burns received late this morning in an accident at Bordon Mills.
Attendants stated that his condition is not serious, but added he will be confined for several days. Treatments were made on the face, neck and eyes.

Irene L. Hawk of Lenoir City, a former president of the Business and Professional Women of Oak Ridge, died Sunday at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was 84.
Mrs. Hawk was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
She was employed for many years by Nancy Lynn Fashions at West Town Mall and was the owner of two businesses in Oak Ridge - Hawks Inc. and Knights Inc.
She also managed the Blossom Shop and Vogue Furriers in Kingsport.
Mrs. Hawk leaves her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard P. and Betty Hawk of Cleveland, Tenn., and Lawrence S. and Helen Hawk of Lenoir City; daughter and son-in-law Lois and Ray Mosely of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Goldie and M.L. Gupton of Oak Ridge.
Services will be at 8 p.m. today at Click Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

He was a retired farmer and a life-long resident of Sullivan County. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church, and V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Hawk Chase; two daughters, Margie Chase and Mrs. Ozena Carroll, both of Kingsport; Three sons, Donald Chase, Kingsport, Ronnie, Kingsport, Pfc. Jimmy Chase, U. S. Army at Ft. Benning; one brother, O. I. Chase, Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Boyd, Jonesboro, Mrs. Okie Love, Kingsport; two granddaughters.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastern Star Church by Rev. Lloyd Light and Rev. Frank Thompson and Rev. Ray Fleenor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Paul Chase, Oda Cox, John D. Copus, Burl Cox, Guy Mosier. The body will be removed to the home from Hamlett-Dobbs Funeral Home at 4:30 today.

She is survived by her husband, C.T. "Tom" Slagle of Gray; a sister, Ozena Carroll of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Ronnie Chase, and wife, Teresa, Piney Flats and Jimmy D. Chase and wife, Judy, Kingsport; a sister-in-law, Lillian Chase, Kingsport; several nieces; and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
A service of remembrance will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Nelson officiating.
Burial will be on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Eastern Star Free-Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

OBITUARY
KINGSPORT - Donald "Don" R. Chase, 77, of 371 Pickens Road, left his suffering in this life and began a new life on Wednesday (Feb. 9, 2005).
He retired from Holston Defense Army Ammunition in 1990 and was a member of Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church.
His parents, Earl and Eileen Chase of Kingsport, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, who was his caregiver for the last 16 years, Lillian Chase, of the home; one daughter, Kathy Chase McKinley and husband, Jack of Jonesborough. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Ozena Carroll of Sulphur Springs, Margie Slagle and husband, Tom of Gray, Jimmy Chase and wife, Judy of Kingsport, Ronnie Chase and wife, Teresa of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Nelson officiating.
Burial will follow at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Chase family would like to thank Shamrock, Aimee, Debra, Pam, and Smoky Mountain Hospice for their tender, loving care.

Iva G. (Hawk) Bowery, 74, of 705 Hidden Valley Road, died at 4:45 a.m. today at Indian Path Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Sullivan County, she had retired here her entire life and was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Wilma) Martin and Mrs. John (Bobbie) Gilbert, both of Kingsport; two sons, Phillip R. Bowery and Gary F. Bowery, both of Kingsport; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters. Mrs. Paul Corum and Mrs. Luster Hamilton, both of Kingsport; one half-sister, Mrs. Eleanor Cornwell, Gray.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. tomorrow at the Colonial Heights Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and also anytime at the home of Mrs. Hubert Martin, 132 Post Oak Drive, Proffitt Acres.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fordtown Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Proffitt and the Rev. Truman Smith officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services to lie in state.
Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

Fred Bowery
Fred Bowery, 59, of Route 2, Jonesboro (Fordtown Community) died about midnight Friday at Holston Valley Community hospital.
He was born and spent his entire life in the Fordtown Community. He was employed by Tennessee Eastman Company for 30 years, working as an operator in the C. E. Division. He attended the Fordtown Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Iva G. Hawk Bowery; two daughters, Mrs. John Gilbert, Jonesboro, and Mrs. Hubert Martin, Kingsport; two sons, Phillip of Kingsport and Gary of Jonesboro; step-mother, Mrs. Lucille Bowery of Surgoinsville; one brother, Perry Bowery of Jonesboro; two half-sisters, Betty Byington and Ruth Bowlin; three half-brothers, Blaine, Miller, and Henry, all of Surgoinsville; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Fordtown Baptist Church. Rev. Dallas Hardin, Rev. Jack Willett and Rev. Ronald Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The body will remain at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home from 7 - 9 p.m. today.

JOHN W. GILBERT
BLOUNTVILLE – John Warren Gilbert, 64, Rt. 6, died Monday, Feb. 6, 1989, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was a Johnson City native but had been a Kingsport resident most of his life. He was a son of the late Franklin Hubert Gilbert and Lou Ella Scism Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert was a minister for the West Colonial Hills Baptist Church.
He served in the Army Corps of Engineers in World War II.

Funeral services for John Warren Gilbert will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Ratliff officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Military graveside services will be conducted at East Lawn Memorial Park 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post 3382 of the VF W. Pallbearers will be deacons of the West Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be area ministers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the West Colonial Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, Kendricks Creek Road, Kingsport. East lawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
