NEWSPAPER ARTICLE - The Los Angeles Times; Saturday, March 25, 1989; page 89; (Newspapers.com)
Naturally, Professor Boring can put it all together;
The Museum of Man thinks so, and asked him to do it.
Eugene Boring, an anatomy professor at Chaffey College in Ranch Cucamonga, puts human skeletons together like perfect jigsaw puzzles.
They stand in in lifelike postures, with no visible means of support. No unsightly wires or bolts mar their forms.
Recognizing the skill and craftsmanship of such work, the Museum of Man in San Diego's Balboa Park commissioned Boring to build two skeletons, a male and female, for the centerpiece of its paleontology exhibit.
Working long hours after his classes, Boring finished the skeletons in six months.
Then, after all the work putting them together, Boring said "Transporting the skeletons was no problem. They come apart like Tinker Toys."
After disassembly, they were transported in boxes.
Boring’s skeletons are held together with supports running through the bones rather than on the outside.
"Most skeletons you see in classrooms look as if they just came from the gallows," Boring said, and are often posed in strange positions with wires and springs protruding from the bones.
Those typical classroom skeletons work well for everyday use and study, of course, but Boring's skeletons are posed in natural positions, allowing students to glimpse the human frame as it exists within the confines of muscle, tendons, ligaments and skin.
Boring learned the unusual form of skeleton assembly from osteologist Thomas Zurich. Boring said, "As far as I know, he's the only (other) person in the world to have constructed skeletons this way."
Boring donated his own time and materials to the Museum of Man. The two skeletons are insured for $15,000 each.
Boring is known throughout Southern California for his extensive collection of skulls, many of which he keeps in the Chaffey College laboratories.
The College of Osteopathy in Pomona often initiates field excursions for its medical students to view the collection.
Boring said each skull is unique, having unusual characteristics from having sustained traumas and diseases during the lifetime of what Boring calls "the original owner."
Several of his skulls show evidence of primitive brain surgery by Inca doctors.
The Incan doctors cut or dugout sections of skull, removed the offending blood clots inside, then, replaced the sections.
The patients lived, Boring said, as evidenced by the healed skulls.

JACOB R. AT REST PEARL B.
1885 - 1957 1895 - 1969. It appears that Jake and Edna moved to Ohio for a period of time in the early 1930s. They were in Ohio in 1933 and 1935 but were back in Tennessee by 1940. Their daughter, Mary, seems to have moved there before 1930 and is shown there in the 1930 Census living with Jake's sister, Sarah (Goodman) Large and her family.
