Anthony Litsey1,2,3
M, #1600, b. 1745, d. after 28 June 1791
BASIC FACTS
Anthony Litsey was born about 1739 in Maryland.2 He was born in 1745 in Augusta Co., Virginia or Scotland.1 He and Susannah Slack were married in 1764 in Lancaster, Cumberland County, PA.3 He died after 28 June 1791 in Nelson Co., Virginia (now Kentucky.)1 Anthony Litsey had reference number 1602. Place of residency during the Revolutionary War was Augusta Co., Virginia. Anthony Litsey was a Private in the Revolutionary War. (Source of information: Dar Application Vol. 111, pg 507, History of Kentucky, DJ Clark publishing Company.)
Anthony Litsey saw service with forces of the Revolution in Capt. Hicklin's Company under Col. Sampson Nathews in 1778. Augusta County Records Certificate of Military Service performed in 1787 under General George Rogers Clark and Col. Benjamin Logan in their expeditions against the Indians. (Source of information: Kentucky Historical Review, pg 28.)
Anthony Litsey moves his family to Augusta Co., Virginia in 1774 and in 1778 moved them again to Kentucky.[coll30.FTW]
Anthony Litsey was a Private in the Colonial Army and participated in the Revolutionary War.
Anthony Litsey was the first Litsey to live in Washington County, KY. He married Susanna Slack about 1764. Her father, Randolph Slack, is shown on the tax lists of Cumberland County, PA in 1762 and Anthony is on the 1771 list. Anthony and Randolph moved to Augusta County, VA by 1774, where Anthony served under Captain Hicklin during the Revolutionary War.
In 1780 Anthony and Susanna sold their land in Augusta County. Randolph Slack and his sons, daughters and sons-in-law moved to Washington County, KY. Randolph made an affidavit that his home was about 1 1/2 miles from the Little Beech Fork when he was called out to guard Bullitt's Lick against the Indians in 1782. Anthony died in 1791.
His home seemed to have been on the first farm on the right as you leave Springfield for Bardstown on Highway 150. Anthony's children made a token payment to Matthew Walton's widow (Mrs. John Pope) in 1818, then sold the property to Basil Mullican. They state that Anthony had bought it from Walton in 1786, never recorded it, and the deed had burned when the house burned.
Anthony's son, Randolph Litsey, had a log cabin at Lincoln Park. He had built a nice two story log house across the road. He persuaded Susanna to move to the log cabin.
She lived there until her daughter Mary and her husband George Pirtle moved to Indiana, then she went with them.
