Thomas David Rothermel of Mount Holly passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at his home. He was 84.
Tom Rothermel, married 58 years, is survived by the love of his life, Stella and their six children, to whom Tom imparted his love of life, making each child feel special and loved. As a father, he made every day exciting. A jokester, a friend, and a very religious man, he could always be depended on for giving life advice. Anyone who knew Tom also knew he loved to dance, and boy could he dance!
Tom was born in Logansport, Indiana. He is predeceased by: his parents, Edward William Rothermel and Nellie Louise (Sales) Rothermel; and his brothers: Fred Rothermel (wife Maxine), and Paul Rothermel.
He served in the Navy as a Machinist Mate First Class during the Korean War and was a U.S. Naval Boxer as a Welterweight.
Tom worked as a Mechanical Draftsman at David Sarnoff Research RCA for over 30 years. After retiring Stella and Tom opened The Elderberry Inn Bed and Breakfast in Madison, IN along the Ohio River. Following the sale of the Inn, Tom worked for another 15 years at the Jefferson County Youth Shelter as a Handyman. He loved being a Handyman and being around kids. For the past 6 years Tom and Stella have lived in New Jersey close to all six kids.
He is Survived by his wife, Stella Lynn (Johnson) Rothermel; his Sisters: Agnes Kroft (husband Bob), and Cecilia Slusser, (husband Tom): his Children: Stephanie Meissner, (husband Robert); David Rothermel; Aaron Rothermel, (wife Lynda); Maria Novack, (husband Robert); Jennifer Wahner and Stacy Satow, (husband Scott): his Grandchildren: Sophie Meissner (fiance’,Joseph Teprovich), Robert Meissner (wife Tracy), and Joseph Meissner; Jessica Novack (fiance’,Michael Hamilton) and Nicholas Novack; Ashling and Catrina Wahner; and Marissa Satow, and his Great Grandchildren: Lorelei and Ryan Meissner.
The funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 555 Yardville Rd., Trenton, NJ 08620 on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow. Interment will be family only.
Flowers may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul.
