ANNA L. PAYNE
Another loved one has been called home to rest. “And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, ‘Write: Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord’,”
After several months of patient suffering during which time she kept praying to go Home, the life of Mrs. Anna L. Payne came to a close at the hospital Tuesday, November 30, 1937.
Anna Lucinda, daughter of William M. and Mary E. Denny Tilford, was born November 27, 1854. and the 83 years of her life have been beautifully lived, making many lasting friendships, loving and doing for others.
She was an ideal wife and mother and faithful in the church at Olive Branch. She was married to Jacob D. Payne September 30, 1875, with whom she lived happily until his death which occurred 14 years ago.
To this union were born four children, three sons, William L. of Pekin, Claude B. and Ross L. Payne of Jeffersonville, and one daughter, Mrs. Stella Waisner of Louisville. All are living and good citizens. There also are 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish the memory of this dear mother and grandmother, who will be waiting for them in the home where there is “no death nor pain nor tears”
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Olive Branch by Elder W. C. Hancock and E. N. Motsinger. The Eastern Star of Jeffersonville took charge of the services at the grave, after which she was laid to rest in the Olive Branch cemetery.
