Zella F. Motsinger1,2,3,4
F, #11342, b. 10 September 1875, d. 15 August 1946
Parents
BASIC FACTS
Zella F. Motsinger was born on 10 September 1875 in Indiana.2,3 She and William Lebert Payne were married on 19 March 1899 in Washington Co., Indiana.1,5 She died on 15 August 1946, at age 70.2 She was buried in Olive Branch Cemetery, Polk Twp., Washington Co., Indiana. Zella F. Motsinger had reference number 11610. She was enumerated on the census in Washington County, Indiana (1920, 1930.) Zella is only distantly related to the Michael Motsinger family buried on her property. Her mother was Samantha A. Motsinger, daughter of Joel and Nancy (Crim) Motsinger. Apparently both of Zella's parents were dead by 1880 as she is living with her grandparents and listed with the Motsinger surname. Washington County, Indiana birth records list two children of William and Zella; one is named Morris A. Payne and the other is Maurice Alva Payne. Both are listed as being born on the same day. These names are unusually similar. They could have been twins or they could be one and the same person with duplicate birth records. I have shown them as twins, due to a report that one died at birth and is buried in the Olive Branch Cemetery while the other lived to maturity.

He was a Farmer - general farming (1920, 1930.)3,4 He resided in Pekin, Washington Co., Indiana (1923, 1937.)7,8 There is a small, private cemetery on the William Lebert Payne place. It is situated on a rising knoll above Peeler's Branch and across the branch from the Payne farm. The cemetery, known as the Motsinger Family Cemetery contains the graves of Michael and Martha Jane (Peeler) Motsinger and six of their children. The cemetery was surveyed by Lulie Davis and Charles Hosea on October 17, 1940. Lulie noted: "At the Lebert Payne place we saw many beautiful varieties of cacti; counted the old log buildings still standing in a fair state of preservation -- the log house have been moved back for a smoke house. Many excellent biscuit meals have been cooked in the open fire-place and served to hucksters and travelers who came the branch road that is still passable. Well-preserved log corn-crib and barn are still in use. This was the Benj. Brim Home."
Note: Benjamin Brim married Martha (Peeler) Motsinger on 19 may 1872 in Washington County, Indiana. Washington County, Indiana birth records list two children of William and Zella; one is named Morris A. Payne and the other is Maurice Alva Payne. Both are listed as being born on the same day.
