NEWSPAPER ARTICLE - New Albany News, about 1924

PUP THAT BIT THREE FOUND TO HAVE HAD RABIES
Pasteur Treatment Is Given Victims; Mayor Quinn Addresses Elks
Mrs. Charles Reasor, 1019 East Market street, New Alvany, has received word that her brother, Charles Money, 16 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Money, who reside at Carwood, near St. Joseph Hill in Clark county and her niece, Wanda Money, 4 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Money, of Connersville, were attacked by a 4-months'-old pup which was suffering from rabies.
Mrs. Liza Monroe, 45 years old, who resides a mile from the Money home , was also bitten by the dog. An examination of the brain of the animal at the State laboratory showed that the dog had suffered from rabies. All of the victims are undergoing the Pasteur treatment.
The child who was bitten was visiting at the Money residence with her parents. Following the attack upon members of the Money family, the pup strayed a mile from home and engaged in a fight with a dog belonging to Mrs Monroe. While she was endeavoring to separate the two animals, the pup turned upon her and viciously bit her.
It is generally believed that the pup was bitten by the mad dog which strayed from New Albany to the St. Joseph Hill neighborhood several weeks ago, after attacking four or five persons in this city.
The pup also attacked two valuable ...hounds and bird dog belonging ... Money, which also sub ... Pasteur treatment.

Note: Mrs. Charles Reasor was Tina (Money) Reasor, thought to be the daughter of Edward and Musetta (Jackson) Money. Charles Money was the youngest child of Edward and Musetta (Jackson) Money. E. Wanda Money was the daughter of Roland Herbert and Margy (Nicholson) Money. Liza (Money) Monroe is thought to have been the daughter of Mike and Maria Money Liza is not a descendant of Henry Dewald.

FORT WORTH - LaRue Jackson Stone St John, 94, a homemaker, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, in Fort Worth.
Graveside service: 4 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Park.
LaRue Jackson Stone St John was born Oct. 7, 1906, on a farm near Carwood, Ind. On this farm they had one horse "Doll" which her mother, Winifred, would hitch to a wagon and they would go through the forest to LaRue's grandmother's house. Around 1911, her folks sold their farm where they raised pigs and cows and moved to Long Beach, Calif., where her father had many relatives.
When her folks separated, she and her mother moved to New Albany, Ind., and lived with her mother's sister and her mother's father on a farm. LaRue went to high school until the 11th grade when she had to quit school and go to work. Her grandmother wanted to send her to college to be a teacher but she died before LaRue was out of high school. Her mother took care of her father's house while he farmed.
LaRue did go to business school and took classes in typing, shorthand and office machines and secured a job as secretary. Later a friend in New Orleans, La., informed her about a job in Houston. Her friend loaned her the money for the trip to Houston and she got the job. While in Houston she met Jesse Stone whom she married June 18, 1938. After their honeymoon they moved to Fort Worth where Jesse obtained employment at Montgomery Ward and worked there until he died in 1962.
Jesse was confirmed in an Episcopal church in Maryland May 16, 1920. LaRue was baptized April 12, 1941, and then was confirmed April 27, 1941, becoming a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
June 6, 1972, she married Walton Barker St John. Rev. John Hildebrand, rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Fort Worth, conducted the ceremony. Walton died February 1978. LaRue then sold the duplex on Lafayette Street and moved to the Ridgmar Plaza apartments Feb. 8, 1979, where she resided until six months before her death.
LaRue enjoyed reading books, going places to play bridge with friends and meetings with the Fort Worth Newcomers Club.
Survivors: Loving friend of 53 years, Peggy O'Grady McMindes of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Jeri Melton and husband, Jerry, of Lake Orion, Mich.; three stepsons; all her friends living at Ridgmar Plaza Apartments and all her friends from the Fort Worth Newcomers Club. Greenwood Funeral Home 3100 White Settlement Road, (817) 336-0584.
On their marriage record both Robert and LaRue fudged their birth dates by three years to make them seem older.
