Mary A. Bitner, 89, of Life Care East, formerly of the Shiloh Community, died Monday morning in Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by one daughter: Dessie Davis of Horse Creek; one son: Dean Bitner of Tusculum; two sisters: Liza Gray and Martha French of Greene County; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three children, Oscar and Earl Bitner and Pauline Fellers.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jeffers Mortuary Chapel with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Horse Creek. The Rev. Rodney Bailey will officiate.

Dessie Dee Davis, 91, of the Chuckey community, died Saturday at her home.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and the widow of Sebe Davis.
She was of the Baptist tradition of faith.
Her family stated, "Mrs. Davis was an extraordinary woman as well as a loving mother and grandmother. She was also widely known for her generosity and her wonderful home cooking."
She is survived by two daughters: Louise Davis was also her caregiver, and Nellie Broyles; three grandchildren and their spouses: Brenda and Eric Hyder, Joyce and Dennis Lamb, and Kathy and Johnny Tarlton; three great-grandchildren: Zac Hyder, Logan Lamb, and Hannah Lamb; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Mary and Sam Bitner; and three brothers and one sister: Harce Bitner, Jake Bitner, Dean Bitner, and Pauline Fellers.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Ray Penley will officiate.
Interment will follow in Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Broyles, Kenneth Bitner, Roger Phillips, Don "Bear" Brown, Mike Fellers, Sammy Fellers, and Jimmie Bitner.

Mrs. Rettie Waddle Bitner, age 70, died Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Laughlin Clinic. She was the daughter of the late William Waddle and Dora Keller Waddle.
Her survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Hassie Miller and Lucy Waddle of Chuckey; five brothers, James B. Waddle of Knoxville; Blevins, Dewey, Vernie and Claude Waddle all of Greene County and several nephews and nieces.
Last rites are set for Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Kiser Funeral Home. Rev. Oral Lingerfelt and Rev. Henry Bailey will officiate and interment will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
The body will remain at Kiser Funeral Home through the services.

Mr. Bitner was a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where he was active as long as his health permitted.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Curtis and Margaret Bitner of Weaverville, N.C.; two grandsons: Michael Bitner of Greensboro, N.C., and Stephen Bitner of Candler, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren.
He was the widower of Eudema Bitner and a son of the late Ben and Bertie Bitner. He was preceded in death by a brother.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 o'clock this evening at Kiser Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held following visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Joe Miller will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
