Goodspeed (Tennessee Genweb.org/carter/cartbiog.html) states that James Hughes (m Susanor Hines) b May 15, 1790 was son of David Hughes; that David Hughes was born in Ireland and immigrated to America. He was a farmer and a Revolutionary soldier.
Based on this information Louminda Torbett added James Hughes to the sons of David

The following information was gathered by Virginia Gross Petz and recorded 1986:
"David Hughes is our proven ancestor and supposedly born in Ireland. He as many of the early settlers owned land in Ireland but left Ireland and came to the United States (sic). He owned land in Ireland but leased it for 99 years and never returned to claim the land.
How and when he left Ireland, I have not been able to prove. He is supposed to be one of the original members of the New Bethel Church (Piney Flats, Tennessee)."

INFORMATION FROM Kathy (Tieheimer) Lara (Larakathy@aol.com):

First trip to California:
Thierheimer, Maria - age 22 From: Glogon, arrived: Saturday, 7 Jan 1905 -To: Los Angeles Via: Fiu/NY - ship: Carpathia - Note: Accompanied by sons, Michael 6 and Peter 4, Going to join husband, Michael Thierheimer. Had $22.00. Returned to Glogan, Austria Hungary sometime between 1906-1908 (younger sister born in Los Angeles, 12/29/1905, she died in Glogan 2/28/1908.

Both Michael & Peter lived with their grandparents when their father came back to Los Angeles in 1909 . Their father sent for them in 1912.

Second trip to California:
Tirheimer, Michael - Age 11, arrived: 29 Feb 1912 - From Glogon To Los Angeles - Via Bra/NY - Ship: Kronprinz Friedrich Wilhelm - Note: Accompanied by cousin Antal Liebzeit 24, wife Anna 24, daughter Maria 6 mos, and brother Peter Tirheimer 10 - Going to join father: Michael Tirheimer at 309 San Pedro, Los Angeles, California.

1st marriage - Los Angeles County Marriage Records - Book 314 pg 273 - 19.2.1919:
Michael Tirheimer 21 Austria Hungary; single 1st marriage - occupation: Auto Mechanic
Father: Michael Tirheimer, Austria Hungary. Mother: Mary Vatzek, Austria Hungary & 1st wife, Ethel A. Brothers 18; California; single 1st marriage - occupation: Domestic. Father: Albert Brothers, Kansas. Mother: Ella Holden, Ohio. One daughter: Olive Clotine Tierhweimer b. 9/16/1919, Los Angeles, died 7/8/1997, Anaheim, CA.

2nd, 3rd & 4th marriages:
3/12/1925 to Nell Eleanor (Steen) Morris & 12/14/1957 to Altha Josephine Mowrey Reed. I would assume the marriage of Elizabeth was after the 1930 census. (My father says he doesn't remember his uncles wives, because he knows he was married a few times.)

Tirheimer was the correct spelling, but two of Michael Sr.'s brothers decided to use "Tieheimer". From the information my father tells me, his grandfather Michael Sr. was not a nice man. I don't believe that the sons had much to do with their father. He is buried at Calvary. I went and looked for him, it took me awhile and couldn't find him, finally the groundskeeper had to come out and help find him. We determined that the plot has no headstone, and that is why we couldn't find him. He is in the section on the far right behind the original mausoleum. Most of the Tirheimer/Tierheimer's are buried in Calvary, but none are near each other.
